Chapter Seven

Daniel still felt overly hot, but touching Apollo, even being near him, was definitely helping.

He didn’t think he had ever had a natural heat before. It was a strange feeling. It didn’t hit him as hard as when he was drugged.

It was more gradual, but the feeling was still there.

Pulling him to his alpha. Pulling him to the one who could ease the ache.

Except this time, the little voice inside his head wasn’t just screeching at him to be bent over and fucked.

It was yelling at him that he needed to be taken by his mate.

Apollo was so tender that it brought an ache to Danny’s heart.

The white noise of the shower around them, the heat of their bodies, and the way he stayed on his knees, kissing Daniel’s belly, his hips, and even his cock, kissing and licking and gently teasing until his dick was heavy and aching all over again, made Daniel groan with heavy desire.

“I need you,” he moaned, hands gripping Apollo’s shoulders.

“I can take you to bed,” Apollo said, his voice a low, pleasing rumble.

Apollo immediately jumped into action. He stood quickly, turning off the spray, which was turning lukewarm after all the time they spent under it.

“Stay here,” he said, quickly kissing Daniel on the mouth.

Daniel did stay, but only because he was confused about what his alpha was doing.

He could never shift, and sometimes he used to think he wasn’t a real omega for that, but he felt that side of himself alive and well.

Demanding that he give his alpha everything Apollo could ever ask of him.

Apollo grabbed a clean, fluffy towel. He brought it back to the shower, making a show of gently scrubbing it through Daniel’s hair, around his shoulders and back, and then up and down his legs until Danny felt soft and dry all over.

And pampered.

He couldn’t help but smile as Apollo worked. His eyes stayed that red-rimmed color, which normally would have been worrying, but it was as if he was on autopilot. His inner alpha taking command.

Maybe, just maybe, commanding him to care for his mate? Danny felt that.

Did Apollo feel it?

Apollo might have been tender and slow when he dried Daniel off, but he barely scrubbed that same towel through his own hair before tossing it aside.

Part of Danny didn’t like that. He’d hoped more of his scent would stay on Apollo.

But then the man took Danny’s hand and pulled him out of the shower. Always soft, always leading Danny without dragging him.

And Danny felt a light in his chest, bright and shining as she stared at Apollo.

Danny felt as if he was going to lift off the floor and float away as they got into Apollo’s room.
